During Dr. Xavier’s practice of Psychiatry over 41 years, he often explained the difference between conscience and superego. This law is written in the heart, which involves reason and the Golden Rule, versus using unreasonable or unfair judgement promoted by one's social group. Racism is one example of superego judgment and Martin Luther King Jr. stimulated people's consciences to overcome the superego problem. Acting against conscience can be because of distorted ideologies or by falling for craving addictions. Conscience is the healing force in both cases. Join Dr. Xavier as he illustrates conscience and superego and gaining better judgment.
